I want to buy a small (10 inch) notebook computer that does not come with a DVD drive. I don't really want to ?

I want to buy a small (10 inch) notebook computer that does not come with a DVD drive. I don’t really want to ?
want to buy a separate DVD drive, just keep it simple. However, if I need to add programs in the future (such as microsoft office) will I be able to download the programs directly to the notebook (buying the download from a website), or do I have to do it with a DVD drive? Can someone explain how this would work?
It’s not a money thing, 10 inch notebooks don’t come standard with dvd drives. I don’t want another freaking device with a cord…blah! I just want one piece of machinery that is compact – someone must know what I am talking about! I want to buy the MSI Wind, how can I get additional software on it without a DVD drive?!!!

That’s kinda like saying you want a new car but, you don’t want the back seat.
If it’s a money thing, you’re not going to save any–in fact it may cost more since someone would have to uninstall a standard feature.
If you are having one built you’re still only saving pennies.

If your computer goes down you have no backup way of fixing it.
The dvd drive is standard because it is a necessary feature.

Yes you can do that. You can download programs directly from your 10 inch notebook as long as the hard drive permits. Some 10 inch notebooks now comes with 120GB HD though.

If you intend to buy a software but no DVD or CD drive then download it from torrent sites and just use your CD key that comes from your original software. If you gonna buy it from a website then its much better.

you will still need to buy an external dvd drive.
most programs that you buy, come on a cd. so you’ll need the drive.
Microsoft office for example ( depending on which version you buy) will be on a cd. you cannot buy MS office online( from microsoft), the only other way is to buy a license and download the installation files.

you won’t need to carry your dvd drive everywhere you go. connect it just for those times that you need it.
